Introduction
The first project was to help the 1998 flood affected people in Bangladesh. Almost every year, Bangladesh suffers flood disaster and this year flood was one in a century. The Bangladeshi community was small in that time but the generosity for their motherland was not as spellbound. The newly formed committee managed to raise over $32000 dollar just by appealing over the phone and through media contact. Even non-Bangladeshi community came forward and dig deep when they knew about the Appeal from BADRC. The fund was distributed by red crescent of Bangladesh liaising with red cross Australia.
From that moment and from that project BADRC is continuing raising fund for the disaster affected community and also raising awareness by attending symposium, cooperating with similar charitable organisation.
Bangladesh is flood prone country and disaster shelter was not enough to accommodate the family who loses houses during monsoon period. Specially the southern part of the country. BADRC thought long and hard and started raising fund for a shelter in country's remote village named Kakrabunia in Ramphal Upozila, District Bagerhat. This area was severely affected by the cyclone SIDR. This is a joint project of the locals and BADRC. BADRC provided the financial fund for this school cum cyclone over 5 years. The project completed in 2012. The building was named Australia Bhavan. It cost around $50000 dollar.
BADRC raised and distributed over $30,000 to the 2017 flood victims in Bangladesh. This amount was raised by BADRC with the help of over 25 professionals. socio-cultural, political, religious organisations and Bangla-Sydney.com based in Sydney.

With the humble beginning of BADRC in 1998, the organisation has completed over a dozen of successful humanitarian projects both in Bangladesh and Australia. Though it is formed primarily to help flood affected victims but it has adopted the policy to help bushfire or any other natural disaster victims.Our Projects
Current Projects
Bangladesh Disaster Relief Committee was formed in September 1998 and delivered the first flood relief projects in 1999. From that period BADRC is continuing raising fund for the disadvantaged people either affected by nature or affected by the poverty. BADRC wish to thank you the community and the dedicated hearts who are continually supporting, working hard to achieve the goal.
BADRC decided to arrange an event to invite them, honour them, celebrate the 25 years of service. This will be also a reserve fund raising event with a view to have a fund ready to help when an emergency situation arises. This event will also focus on promoting awareness about future plan. It will be a campaign to spread BADRC activities to the new settlers who may not know well about BADRC.

• 1998: Bangladesh Australia Disaster Relief Committee was formed on 20/8/1998. During the period since its inception to the recent time BADRC raised and funded different relief and community development activities in Bangladesh and in Australia.
• 1999: In early 1999 BADRC paid to the Australian Red Cross about $32K. This money was spent for flood affected people in Bangladesh via Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
• 2002: In 2002 BADRC raised and funded relief activities in Bangladesh. In 2002 BADRC also raised and distributed more than $7K for the flood victims in the Australian country side.
• 2004: In 2004 BADRC raised $25K. This money was given to Caritas Australia and the donations were spent in Bangladesh. Of this donation $11K was given to the Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Relief fund. The collection included an amount of $5K received from the Govt. of New South Wales.
• 2007 - 2012: School-cum-Cyclone Shelter- In 2007 BADRC raised about $10K for charity work in Bangladesh. After the devastation caused by Cyclone SIDR in the coastal areas of Bangladesh in 2007 the community members decided to fund establishment of a Cyclone Shelter in the cyclone SIDR affected area. After formal assessments and deliberations BADRC decided to fund construction of a School-cum-Cyclone Shelter in Kakrabunia, a remote village in Rampal Upazila, Bagerhat. Tender for the construction was invited and an agreement was signed in January 2011 with the construction company Nazmul and Sons of Khulna for a contract amount of about TK. 33.35 lacs. The completed Shelter was inaugurated in March 2012. Currently the shelter is being used as a primary school for the children of the local area which has no other schools. • 2013: In 2013 BADRC dedicated $3K to establish a scholarship program for school poor but intelligent going children in the Jamuna river eroded area of Char Khabulia, Upazila Sonatola of the District Bogra.
• In 2017 a fund-raising Dinner organised by BADRC and raised over 16000 dollars to support the flood victims in Bangladesh.
• In 2018 BADRC again appealed to the Australian Bangladeshi community and raised over $20000 dollar. The fund was used for sanitation projects at Coxes Bazar Rohingya Refugee camp. Dhaka Ahsania Mission carried out the projects on behalf of BADRC.
• During COVID BADRC took a Project to assist Covid affected people in Sydney and hailed by the local Political leaders.
• During recent Flood in NSW and Queensland BADRC raised over $10000 dollar. The fund was distributed by Vinnies, a reputable NGO in Australia. BADRC also also took part to help Victorian Bush fire.
• The last projects was taken to raise fund for Sylhet, Shunamganj flood victims. Mehman khana was working on behalf of BADRC. This NGO helped to distribute cooked food to the water surround families by boat.
